A Black Cat for Halloween Candy

Black Cat Halloween Candy Box

The EHAG Emporium is open tonight at 9 pm! My offering this month is a spun cotton black cat complete with a vintage style bottle brush Halloween tree and tiny white pumpkin. She was created using techniques from Victorian times, and all sit atop a paper mache candy box.  The piece measures 8-1/2" tall by 3-1/2" in diameter. The words "Happy Halloween," adorn the lid on the front and "trick or treat" are on the back. Perfect for a vintage table setting or to go with your Halloween antiques. Don't forget to check out the other offerings available from my fellow EHAG artisans at the Emporium!

Witch in the Woods Folk Art Theater

Witch in the Woods Theater

Using recycled items, I created a small witch theater that includes a spun cotton witch. She is made using techniques as in Victorian times and has a reproduced scrap face. She holds a tiny pumpkin and broom. A raven sits at the top keeping watch over all. A tiny skull adorns the top of the theater, too. There are all sorts of tiny embellishments that make this a truly unique Halloween treasure!

This piece is being featured on the EHAG Emporium, which has other fabulous Halloween art up for grabs. (It has sold however.) I am a proud member of the first Halloween artist guild online, Eclectic Halloween Artist Guild (EHAG).  Happy Halloween!

It is already mid October and the Halloween folk art shows around the country have come and gone. But there is still time to get a one-of-a-kind piece to add to your Halloween display if you didn't get an opportunity to go.

Vintage-Style Spun Cotton Cat & Jack Now Available
I have created Jack the pumpkin man who thought he would try his hand at one of the Book of Night Spells. He accidentally super-sized the cat, which not only startled him, but also surprised the cat!

Both have bodies of spun cotton. Jack's head is sculpted paper clay. His clothes are hand made and dyed for a vintage look. All have been handmade and hand painted by me, including the tiny book of spells and pumpkin treat bucket. Jack and his cat are firmly adhered to a paper mâché hand-painted candy box. All measures almost 15" tall and about 10" wide.

I am offering it on my blog for $150, plus $6.95 shipping.

I have another piece available on eBay, just click here.  If you know my art, then you know I can't resist adding recycled  and vintage elements to my pieces. This paper mâché moon and spun cotton witch with bats sit on a black candle stick. I had a lot of fun with this one!

I will leave you with a photo of me and two other artists from Spirits in Sanford Halloween Folk Art Show, in Sanford, Fl, where we met with collectors during a costume party. What fun we had! Halloween is really almost here! Email me if you have any questions. Happy fall!

Witchy Woman Sneak Peeks

I'm putting the finishing touches on lots of witches this year! Somehow the spirit of "Witchy Woman" caught hold, and I've been busy flying high with these cranky ladies. I wanted to share some sneak peeks at what you'll find at my table during my fall show schedule. In fact, I hear some cackling in the background. I think they're calling me to finish their hats, pumpkins and brooms. Hope to see you in California or Florida this fall!

Magical Parachutes for Halloween

There's a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
Keeps on smiling more and more.

There's a bat-like shape in the sky
A pumpkin sprite with legs of green.
He's parachuting through the air
Just in time for Halloween.

Join my email list to receive news of my latest creations, like the one pictured above. (Actually, this stunt was all part of his bucket list.) He will be making an appearance at the folk art shows listed here that I'll be participating in this fall.

Happy (early) Halloween!
